BACnet (Building Automation and Controls Network) is an ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers) standard for a completely open, non-proprietary, industry-standard DDC protocol. A BACnet system means that owners are no longer "locked" into a single DDC control system provider.

The Society is organized for the sole purpose of advancing the arts and sciences of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration for the public's benefit through research, standards writing, continuing education and publications.

BACnet, the ASHRAE building automation and control networking protocol, provides mechanisms by which computerized equipment of arbitrary function may exchange information, regardless of the particular building service it performs.

As a result, the BACnet protocol may be used by head-end computers, general-purpose direct digital controllers, and application specific or unitary controllers with equal effect.

The motivation for this Standard was the widespread desire of building owners and operators for "interoperability," the ability to integrate equipment from different vendors into a coherent automation and control system - and to do so competitively. To accomplish this, the Standard Project Committee (SPC) solicited and received input from dozens of interested firms and individuals; reviewed all relevant national and international data communications standards, whether de facto or the result of committee activity; and spent countless hours in debate and discussion of the pros and cons of each element of the protocol.

The Alert on DDC product line is built upon 20 years of industry leading technology. From the first major Alerton installation in the 76-story Columbia Tower here in Seattle, the Alerton product has led the way for DDC technology. Even today Alerton is still leading the DDC BACnet revolution.

Using a standard web browser, you can use WEBtalk to access site data from anywhere in the world. A WEBtalk system takes BACtalk data displays and converts them to Web pages. This enables users to view and modify site operational data in real time using a browser over a WAN or Internet connection. User connection is password protected.

Phoenix Controls is a recognized leader in the design and manufacture of precision airflow control systems, most notably variable air volume (VAV) controls for laboratory ventilation. The systems ensure the environmental integrity of critical spaces, including research laboratories, vivariums, pharmaceutical process areas, and biocontainment facilities by controlling pressurization, temperature, and humidity.

Aircuity has developed an indoor air quality measurement system to monitor eight physical and chemical parameters within a building, including temperature, relative humidity, carbon dioxide and common pollutants such as carbon monoxide, ozone, particles and radon.

Belimo has been designing, manufacturing and marketing electric actuators for motorized control devices in heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems since 1975. The company's innovative, high-class technology ensures trouble-free operation for all kinds of HVAC control devices. This not only means greater comfort and convenience, of course, but also greater safety for property and the occupants of buildings.
