The 42-story Washington Mutual - Seattle Art Museum project is the newest highlight to the beautiful Seattle skyline. This joint venture between WAMU and SAM adds over 300,000 square feet to the museum, over 12 full and partial floors, and over 900,000 square feet of new WAMU office space throughout nearly all 42 stories. In addition, the office tower sits atop 6 stories of parking that accommodate over 700 vehicles. The Washington Mutual Center Alerton DDC system not only controls the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, but also manages the engineered emergency smoke control system and is the center point for integrating other building operation systems within the facility.

Bank of America Tower

The Bank of America Tower is one of America's largest commercial office building DDC control systems. It is the tallest building in the Pacific Northwest, standing at 76 stories, with over 1,500,000 square feet of space.


The Alerton system designed for the structure includes 12,000 points of DDC control and allows for central building management of over 2,000 hydronic heat pumps, over 350 fans and all other central HVAC equipment.

The Rainier Plaza is one of the largest high-rise buildings in downtown Bellevue, Washington. Including the 5 level parking garage, it is 24 stories tall and encompasses 431,000 square feet. The building includes both office and retail space. The legacy building controls system was retrofitted with Alerton's totally native BACnet system, BACtalk®.

Fisher Plaza, owned, operated and developed by Fisher Communication, is a media, communications and mission critical facility. With two buildings totaling 300,000 square feet, Fisher Plaza provides commercial space specializing in maintaining and supporting crucial operations. The HVAC system for Fisher Plaza is cutting edge and state-of-the-art. The building utilizes raised floors to provide the first underfloor HVAC system in the area. This system, along with de-mountable walls and modular furniture systems, offers ultimate flexibility and minimizes the time to modify or bring a space into functional use.

Vance Corporation Buildings

These five buildings represent part of the fleet of Vance Corporation buildings located throughout Seattle. From a VAV system in the Roffe building to a steam heat system in the Plaza 600 building, ATS has been able to create flexible and economical solutions for the Vance Corporation. Because many of downtown Seattle's buildings are almost 100 years old, retrofitting the HVAC and controls systems is essential to maintain use of these prime real-estate complexes.

There are a variety of HVAC systems controlled by Alerton throughout the campus with numerous operator workstations scattered across the campus network. ATS has created a strong presence over the last 20 years throughout the campus. From economical VAV systems to advanced laboratory ventilation systems, ATS has engineered and installed control systems in buildings such as Suzzallo Library, Allen Library, Henry Art Gallery, Fisheries Building, Teaching Center, Faculty Building, and the H and K wings.

Yakima Valley Community College (YVCC) has transformed much of its campus into Alerton IBEX. ATS Inland NW continues to work with EWU Facilities personnel and preferred contractors to provide energy related improvements to all 53 of the existing campus facilities. Alerton BACtalk controls have been installed in multiple buildings providing control and monitoring for over 200,000 square feet of existing facilities.

The native BACnet Alerton BACtalk control system has been integrated to the existing BACnet control system using the available campus-wide network. EWU consistently relies on the Alerton WEBtalk Operators interface to access their control system from multiple remote locations via the Internet.

PSNS is the largest Naval shore facility and one of Washington State's largest industrial installations adjacent to Naval Base Kitsap at Bremerton. NBK Bremerton provides world-class facilities, programs, and services to support and improve personnel and logistics readiness. Currently, ATS is installing Alerton BACtalk controls in approximately 57 buildings ranging from industrial production facilities to commercial office buildings to residential quarters.

The Department of Ecology headquarters is home to over 1200 state employees. Recently, the DOE headquarters underwent a massive retrofit of the buildings' HVAC system. In three months, ATS installed a complete BACtalk controls system with Carbon Dioxide sensing, humidity and pressure control, and a fire alarm interface. Not only was all work completed during after-hours, but also the project was done in a fully occupied building with no system down time during the day.

Boeing Auburn Site exclusively uses the Alerton IBEX control system to manage 18 buildings over 516 acres of plant area. Boeing Auburn saved $1.5 million in energy costs in a single year after implementing Alerton energy management sequences.

At 260,000 square feet, the building consists of 4 basketball courts, 4 swimming pools, 9 squash courts, 6 indoor tennis courts, spa, auditorium and meeting rooms. From sauna rooms to tennis courts, the Pro Sports Club must maintain a quality comfort level in various environments. They chose the ATS solution partly because of its energy saving programs and easy equipment time scheduling.

Seattle Crime Lab

The Washington State Patrol Seattle Crime Lab, the state's largest lab for DNA and forensics, recently underwent a major tenant improvement on two floors of the city-owned building. The work included lab casework, hoods, and extensive central and tenant HVAC improvements. Alerton's BACtalk system, Phoenix Controls and Strobic Fans work together to maintain proper working and lab conditions in this approximately 46,000 square foot facility. Three Strobic Exhaust Fans were installed on a single plenum serving fume hood exhaust. The fans offer higher effective stack height and increased dilution with lower stack height and lower energy costs. Similarly, Phoenix Zone Presence Sensors were used to reduce the fume hood airflow when hoods were left open in an unoccupied space.

Seattle Pacific University (SPU) was established more than a century ago by Free Methodist pioneers; SPU is a comprehensive Christian university of the liberal arts, sciences and professions. The new Science facility was built as a teaching and lab building with Phoenix lab controls and Alerton BACtalk DDC controls. Alerton Controls are also installed in Marston and Watson Halls with a DDC control interface at the Greenhouse.
